BSBI is thrilled to welcome Rabbi Scott and Sara Hoberman and family to our community!
Rabbi Scott Hoberman grew up in Skokie, IL and spent two formative years studying in Israel at Yeshivat Shaalvim prior to completing his B.A. in Mathematics at Yeshiva University. Rabbi Hoberman received his semicha/ordination from the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary and completed a four year fellowship pursuing intensive Talmudic and Halachic study and advanced pastoral training in the Bella and Harry Wexner Kollel Elyon. Before moving to Charleston in 2020, Rabbi Hoberman served for four years at the Riverdale Jewish Center as Rabbinic Intern and Assistant Rabbi.
In addition to his position at BSBI, Rabbi Hoberman plays a role in many vital components of the greater Charleston Jewish community. He oversees both the Downtown Charleston Eruv and South Windermere Eruv, is a member of the KCC (Kosher Commission of Charleston), and teaches Mishna to 5th and 6th grade students at Addlestone Hebrew Academy.
Rabbi Hoberman is married to Sara Hoberman, a Teaneck, NJ native and graduate of Stern College for Women. Sara holds a Nurse Practitioner License and plays an active role in our community. The Hobermans, along with their three children, thoroughly enjoy being part of the BSBI family. They are grateful for the warm Southern welcome they have already received and look forward to connecting even more with the BSBI community.
Rabbi Hoberman can be reached at rabbi@bsbisynagogue.org.
